Taipei and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines’ capital Kingstown announced on Tuesday that they have become sister cities, strengthening ties between Taiwan and SVG.
Prime Minister of St Vincent and the Grenadines Dr Ralph Gonsalves presented Taipei Mayor Wayne Chiang with a painting, inviting him and City Council Speaker Tai Hsi-chin to visit SVG to promote bilateral exchanges.
According to the Office of the Prime Minister, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Mayor Chiang in delivering remarks indicated his pleasure to sign the joint statement and announced that immediately there will be scholarships on offer for Vincentians to learn Mandarin in Taipei.
Prime Minister Gonsalves also delivered remarks, expressing contentment in the occasion and inviting citizens of Taipei to visit St Vincent to further consolidate relations.

The Prime Minister of St Vincent and the Grenadines and a contingent travelled to Taiwan for the official swearing in of H.E. Dr Lai Ching-te as the 16th term President of the Republic of China (Taiwan).
The St Vincent PM expressed congratulations and stated he was deeply honoured to be invited to attend the 520 President Inauguration State Banquet.
