Although its neighbouring Caribbean islands Barbados and St Lucia may be more household names, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines have an unspoilt quality to their mountainous landscapes and crystal-blue seas that really make it a hidden gem.
It’s known for making the strongest rum known to man – it’s 84.5% alcohol (yep, you read that right) – and is the backdrop for some of the most iconic scenes in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, but there’s a lot more this island has to offer. Unfortunately, there are no direct flights to this little slice of paradise but trust me, the short stopover in Barbados is truly worth the wait (and the leg cramp).
From the rainforests to the reefs, this is your complete travel guide to everything you need to know about visiting Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.
Where to stay Sandals Saint Vincent and the Grenadines
If you’re after an influencer-worthy setting, look no further than the newly opened Sandals Saint Vincent all-inclusive resort. No screaming kids hogging the pool to see here, you can read in peace at this adult-only location. Surrounded by luscious mountains, you have the choice to sip your cocktails at any of the resort’s four pools – because one is simply not enough – or a quiet beachfront, depending on what floats your boat (literally).
Room-wise you have the option of everything from swim-up suites to a beachside villa; the villas come with a rotation of butlers that can cater to your every need, from reserving you a poolside bed with a cooler of refreshments to getting you a midnight pizza. If you’re a beach babe, you’re in the prime spot to take advantage of the all-inclusive water sport activities; from daily kayaking trips to the local Buccament Bat Caves to taking up windsurfing.
When it comes to food, you’re in for an absolute treat. Usually when dining at all-inclusive resorts for a week (or two) the limited restaurant selection can get a bit samey, but Sandals has 11 different culinary options for you to pick from. Buccan is a snug open-air restaurant that sums up everything St Vincent has to offer. It’s a unique dining experience packed with locally sourced ingredients and ancient cooking techniques, with dishes designed to be shared. You’re guaranteed to make some new friends when dining at this spot.
Other restaurants include everything from the beach club Parisol, where you can get served up fresh fish and St Vincent’s iconic ‘Phoulori’ dish with a poolside view to Sora, a classic Italian which delivers carb-based comfort food. The lunch offerings include a salad bar, fresh oven-basked pizza and Jerk Shack; packed with classic Caribbean dishes loaded with taste. No matter what you pick, you’re always in walking distance from some seriously good food.
From pools overlooking the beach to a heart-shaped one ideal for the romantics out there, it can be difficult to pick where to set up camp, but you’re missing out if you don’t drop by the spa. Yes, you can opt for a luxe outdoor back massage in a hut overlooking a stream (talk about bliss) but you can also use the pool facilities on offer for no extra charge. If you love cold water swimming, don’t miss out on the chilly plunge pool to cool yourself off.
Bars are in abundance here – I mean, it would be rude not to indulge in a rum punch, right? So you never have to walk – or swim – too far to get a cocktail. If that wasn’t enough, the resort also offers drinking activities such as martini classes and rum tasting experiences. It’s safe to say, you’re never going to be bored.
A seven-night stay for two adults at Sandals Saint Vincent and The Grenadines staying in a Bamboo Palm Room with Balcony Tranquility Soaking Tub costs from £2,775 per person. Price includes all-inclusive accommodation, return economy class flights with Virgin Atlantic from London Heathrow Airport and resort transfers. *Price is date-specific and is valid for travel on 3rd September 2025 only.

What to do Climb a volcano
If you’re a hike-loving holidayer, take advantage of St Vincent’s signature mountainous rainforest landscape and climb their famous Soufrière volcano. Block out a few hours for this one and be prepared for some steep climbs. Pick your time wisely; too early and the incredible view from the top may be covered in clouds but go too late and you’ll be at the mercy of the midday sun. You’ll see incredible wildlife on your way up and some waterfalls. Don’t worry, this guy last erupted recently in 2021 and is closely monitored, so you’re good to go.
