A 27-year-old woman has reportedly gone missing in South Carolina.
Jessica Rapsys was traveling to her aunt’s house in Allendale on August 13 at around 7:30 or 8:00 p.m. when she went missing, according to a statement from the independent organization Missing People in America.
Her aunt was reportedly meant to meet her halfway, but Rapsys never showed up, it states.
The statement reports that on August 14, police found Rapsys’ car with the keys still inside and her cell phone nearby, but they have been unable to locate her.
The public is encouraged to contact the Allendale Police Department if they have any information that could be related to the incident.
Rapsys is originally from Jacksonville, Florida. She has been described as having blonde hair, brown eyes, being five foot seven inches in height, and weighing around 105 pounds, according to a statement from the AWARE Foundation, an independent organization that reports on missing people.

Missing People In America was founded in 2018, and runs a database with 1,015 people registered missing.
Every day, roughly 2,300 Americans are reported missing. According to National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (Nam Us), at any given time, up to 100,000 people may be reported missing in the United States with as many as 600,000 reported annually, based on statistics from 2007 to 2020. Nam Us is operated by the U.S. Department of Justice.

Per the database’s 2024 statistics, Alaska has the highest rate of missing people at 163.76 missing people per 100,000 of the population, while California has the highest number of missing people at 3,010. South Carolina has a total of 270 missing people open cases.
Newsweek made a map of the active number of missing people per state in February 2024 based on the Nam Us data. At the time, Oklahoma had the highest percentage of missing people per the figures, at 16 missing per 100,000 residents.
Dr. Jesse Goliath, an assistant anthropology professor at Mississippi State University, told Newsweek that the real figures may be higher than the federal statistics show. Goliath said, “In general, there is no federal requirement for reporting missing persons cases to NamUS. So, without mandatory reporting by law enforcement, the number of actual missing persons in each state is actually much higher than reported.”
The professor launched a separate project for Mississippi called the Mississippi Repository for Missing and Unidentified Persons and noted that where the Nam Us database recorded 188 missing-person cases in Mississippi, the Mississippi Repository found 497 cases.
