Florida Beer Company’s brews created in Cape Canaveral on Florida’s Space Coast, such as Key West and the extremely popular Hurricane Reef share a common bond with the butterbeer served at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter attraction at Universal Studios.

The connection is Carib Brewery, the beverage sector for ANSA McAl, the large family-owned company that purchased Florida Beer in 2016. Carib Brewery produces the “beer of the Caribbean,” the much-loved Carib Beer, and also provides entertainment giants such as Universal with themed beverages such as Harry Potter’s famous drink.

“We have a huge market share in the Caribbean and we chose Cape Canaveral as our North American brewing home as we needed a location where we could make beverages for North America without the latent problems of shipping products long distances from overseas.,” said Asa Sealy, Marketing Director.

The brewery employs more than 1,000 people at its plants in Trinidad, Tobago and St. Kitts and Nevis. The beer, which has earned 97 percent of the robust beer market sales in the Caribbean, is distributed to 30 countries around the world and aboard cruise ships.

The 50,000 square-foot Carib Brewery and Taproom (formerly Florida Beer) in Cape Canaveral is a high-tech facility that has a large potential output to serve all of North America and beyond.

“We are so proud that we can call the Space Coast our home and we are very thankful that the community here has allowed us to join in this exciting growth of the economy in Brevard county.,”said James Webb, CEO. ‘We hope that our brewery and taproom will be something that locals from the Space Coast can be proud of.”

Surprisingly, Carib encompasses more than the refreshing Carib Lager and Carib Light and the robust, European lager-style of Stag.  In fact, Carib also produces Mackeson, the oldest English milk stout. The Carib portfolio additionally includes the non-alcoholic malted beverage known as Malta Carib, the healthy non-alcoholic Ginseng Up, a drink made from the Korean ginseng root, as well as Shandy Carib, which a minuscule alcoholic content of no more than 1.2 percent and is considered non-alcoholic in the Caribbean. In the Caribbean, Carib Brewery represents European brands such as Heineken and Guinness.

In Brevard County, Carib Lager is available at ABC Liquor, Total Wine, and, of course, at the Florida Beer Company taproom in Cape Canaveral. Arrangements with Publix are being finalized, so Carib Beer will soon be available at the neighborhood supermarket as well.
