And it’s three out of three successful events as the men’s pursuiters brilliantly earn their shot at gold tomorrow.

The qualification ride from Ethan Hayter, Oliver Wood, Charlie Tanfield and Ethan Vernon meant they knew beating Denmark would guarantee a final ride.

And that’s what they delivered – to gain revenge for the Tokyo Games.

Three years ago, the Danes dethroned the reigning Olympic champions amid a crash which saw GB disqualified – even though Tanfield was knocked off the track – and a rejected claim by the Brits that their conquerors were using illegal equipment.

This time around, GB flew away, and were more than half a second up after the first kilometre.

But the Danes hit back, whittling away the advantage and taking command to lead by the same amount at half-way, with Vernon the man to drop off.

The lead grew to 0.8 seconds but in the final third of the race it started to come down.

It was brilliant stuff, remorselessly clawing time back, with the gap just a tenth of a second  with a lap and a half to go.

And a titanic effort saw them complete a stunning comeback to clock a stunning 3:42.151 and  dump the reigning world champions into the bronze medal race.

They will now face Australia in the final. The Aussies beat Italy, clocking a stunning world record of 3:40.730. What a race that will be tomorrow.
