Dakotah Lindwurm has taken the lead in the Women’s Marathon.
Generally in this event the ‘racing’ doesn’t start until the final 10k or so.
But she is in a great spot to win this one and we could have another Team USA gold on our hands.
Halfway mark – Women’s Marathon
We’ve got a change in the leader as we cross the halfway mark in the Women’s Marathon.
Australia’s Stenson has gone into 1st, with France’s Julien in 2nd and Lindwurm of the USA in 3rd.
All of the big names are inside the top 10.
Welcome to the final day – Women’s Marathon
Good morning and welcome to the final day of the Olympics in Paris.
We’ve got Women’s Marathon action underway for you first of all this morning, and most of them are just passing through the 20km mark, with roughly an hour and 10 minutes gone.
L.C Salpeter of Israel is currently out in the lead, with Jepchirchir of Kenya in 2nd and Assefa of Ethiopa in 3rd.
Team GB’s Calli Hauger-Thackery passed through the 20k mark about a minute behind the leaders in 39th currently.
British hopes on final day
The Paris 2024 Olympics are heading into a what stands to be thrilling final day – and there is plenty for Team GB enthusiasts to get excited about.
Emma Finucane can secure her second gold and third medal of Paris 2024 in the velodrome with the Women’s Sprint (11.45am BST).
Jack Carlin is targeting glory in the Keirin while Hamish Turnbull is also involved (from 10.30am BST).
Meanwhile, European champ Emily Campbell goes in the Women’s +81kg Weightlifting final after silver in Tokyo (10.30am BST).
Clara Evans, Rose Harvey and Calli Hauger-Thackery all feature for Team GB in the Women’s Marathon (7am BST).
Neah Evans and Elinor Barker are the two British representatives in the Women’s Omnium (10am BST).
Browne ‘walking and talking’ after crash
Kwesi Browne is ‘walking and talking’ following his horror crash in the Men’s Keirin on Saturday evening.
The Trinidad and Tobago cyclist, who appeared to be knocked unconscious, was treated by medical staff on the track while the event repechage was suspended.
Browne was eventually stretchered from the velodrome with onlookers concerned for his wellbeing.
Thankfully, however, Trinidad and Tobago Cycling’s team manager Rowena Williams issued a statement declaring the 30-year-old ‘fine’.
“He’s fine. The medical team here at the velodrome did a wonderful job in taking care of him,” Williams said.
“They did some quick x-rays to make sure that there were no broken bones and no major injuries to his head. Kwesi is fine.
“He’s walking and he’s talking so we just want to continue to thank everybody for their support.”
