Canada has been a revelation at Copa America with a run to the semifinal round that ended at the hands of tournament favorite Argentina by a 2-0 outcome last week. The Canadian side made its first Copa America appearance, got out of Group A with a 1-1-1 record there, then beat Venezuela in penalties in the quarterfinal round. Canada put up a good fight against Argentina with physical play, but surrendered a goal to Julian Alvarez in the 22nd minute and another to legend Lionel Messi in the 51st to fall to the third-place match.

Uruguay also ran into a dominant opponent in Colombia in the semifinals and lost, 1-0, for the first time at Copa America. The team personally ended the United States’ tournament with a 1-0 victory to close out the group stage and won Group C with a 3-0-0 and the best goal differential (plus-8) in the tournament. Uruguay also secured a big win in the quarterfinal round by taking a scoreless draw with mighty Brazil on penalties to advance to the semis.
