The chances for a tropical depression to form in the Atlantic have decreased, according to the National Hurricane Center.
Forecasters on Thursday were monitoring two areas for potential development. Both had low chances of becoming tropical depressions.
That included a tropical wave in the central Atlantic that was widely anticipated to become a depression this week. Its probability of development decreased to 30 percent on Thursday morning.
The disturbance was located a few hundred miles east of the Leeward Islands in the Caribbean.
The hurricane center said the disturbance remained disorganized on Thursday but some slow development would be possible over the next few days. The disturbance was expected to track to the west-northwest during that time.
It could pass near the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico tomorrow, and then the southeastern Bahamas on Saturday.
The hurricane center expects conditions to be unfavorable for it to develop any further as it tracks westward.
A second disturbance was located in the western Caribbean on Thursday. It had a 20 percent probability of becoming a depression in the next seven days.
Th hurricane center expects that disturbance to move inland in Central America over the next few days. Heavy rain will be possible in that area and southern Mexico through the weekend.
The Atlantic hurricane season still has more than a month to go. The last day of the season will be Nov. 30.
