TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WBRC) – After a big 63-0 win against Western Kentucky in Kalen DeBoer’s debut as UA’s head coach, Alabama is already looking ahead to South Florida this week.
Last season, the Crimson Tide avoided a near disaster in Tampa and escaped with the 17-3 win. Although most of the current coaches on staff weren’t present for that game, DeBoer reminds his players how close that game was in connection to one of the team’s pillars: ‘Respect All, Fear None.’
It’s also going to be another big weekend at Bryant-Denny Stadium as Alabama is set to reveal Saban Field in honor of legendary head coach Nick Saban. The official naming is set to take place during halftime of this weekend’s game.
“To have that, the whole honor, for coach Saban,” DeBoer said. “Everything he’s done here, I know how much that will mean to him, and it’s something that I know we have a lot of respect for. Going to make sure that we do everything that we can to make it our house and protect our field here on out, just like it’s been in the 17 years that he was here.”
Kickoff for Saturday’s game between Alabama and USF is scheduled for 6 p.m. CST.
