It’s official. Alabama football vs. Georgia is on Donald Trump’s schedule.
A Washington-based person with knowledge of Trump’s campaign schedule told the Tuscaloosa News that the Republican nominee for president – who held the office from 2017-21 – will attend the Crimson Tide’s game against the Bulldogs on Sept. 28 at Bryant-Denny Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m., and the game will be broadcast on ABC.
Trump attended two Alabama games as sitting president: the Jan. 8, 2018, meeting between Alabama and Georgia in Atlanta, where the Crimson Tide beat the Bulldogs for its 17th national championship, and a Nov. 9, 2019, meeting at Bryant-Denny Stadium between LSU and Alabama.
Trump’s 2019 visit was the first time a sitting president has attended a University of Alabama home football game.

The only other president to attend an Alabama football game was John F. Kennedy, who attended the Jan. 1, 1963, Orange Bowl matchup between UA and Oklahoma in Miami.
The University of Alabama hosted a debate for the Republican presidential candidates Dec. 6, 2023. Trump did not attend. New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, former United Nations ambassador Nikki Haley and businessman Vivek Ramasawmy participated in the debate.
Mark Halperin, an author and journalist who currently works for Newsmax, revealed on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, earlier Monday that Trump plans to attend the game, citing “football sources,” with the caveat that “schedules can change, of course.”
John Wahl, a chairman of the Alabama Republican Party, said he was aware that of the possible visit by the former president.
“I am aware that Donald Trump has been considering a visit to Tuscaloosa for the Alabama-Georgia game,” Wahl said in a statement. “Obviously, I’m extremely excited about the prospect. The people of Alabama have a special relationship with Donald Trump and the Republican Party is always excited to welcome him to our state.
“With that said, I’m not directly involved in the planning, and I don’t know if the most recent assassination attempt changes anything here in Tuscaloosa.”
