How Alabama voting patterns changed during 2024 presidential election

For the third time, Alabama has cast its nine electoral votes for President-elect Donald Trump. Within the state, 1,457,704 voters chose Trump over the 769,391 who voted for Vice President Kamala Harris.

A higher percentage voted for Trump in Alabama than the last two times he ran for president, with 64.8% of cast for him. The 2020 percentage was 62.2% for Trump, and 62.7% voted for him in the 2016 general election.

However, many Alabama counties, especially those in metro areas where a majority of voters were in favor of Harris, showed less support for her than Secretary Hillary Clinton in 2016 and President Joe Biden in 2020. Of the three Democratic candidates, Biden had the most Alabama votes, followed by Clinton, then Harris.

The only county in the state that flipped was Marengo County, which voted for Clinton and Biden in 2016 and 2020 respectively, but for Trump in 2024.
