CONCORD, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — With fewer than five days left until early voting starts in North Carolina, Sen. JD Vance and his family made a pit stop at Charlotte Motor Speedway on Sunday for the Bank of America Roval 400.
With his son on his shoulder, the Republican vice presidential nominee greeted racing fans along the pit road.
“When we got here today and saw all the commotion, it was cool to find out he was actually here,” said Xavier Bauguess, who’s from Statesville.
People lined up and waited for the senator to pass by. He and his family spent time with former driver Richard Childress, getting a look at Austin Dillon’s car. Former President Donald Trump’s son, Donald Trump Jr., was also there.
“They’re running a true campaign because they have nothing to hide so they want to get out, talk with the people and share their message and what their plans are,” said Blake Henry, who was at the race from Alabama.
Vance was not scheduled to give remarks during the playoff race. We will hear from him this week. He plans to host a rally in Wilmington on Wednesday, one day before early voting starts in the Tar Heel state.
“It’s really important for everyone, either side to get out and vote, so luckily I’m planning on voting next weekend,” said Bauguess.
