Alabama’s senior senator told military and business leaders in Huntsville the country needs to “get back to protecting the American people first” by funding law enforcement, cracking down on immigration and protecting small family farms.
In his Washington update to the Huntsville/Madison County Chamber of Commerce on Monday, Sen. Tommy Tuberville lauded developments around the state but called the Huntsville area “the shining star.” Yet the nation faces significant challenges, he said, adding Redstone Arsenal and the area’s defense contractors could be called upon soon.
“We’re looking down the barrel of a gun and two world wars,” he said, referring to conflicts in Israel and Ukraine. And after 20 years of the U.S.-led war in Afghanistan, “we’re not as strong as we need to be. We’re not even close. We need to build everything up.”
