Kamala Harris, the Democratic party’s candidate, has so far secured 172 electoral votes, the majority of them coming from the blue state of California.
California: News outlets have called the race for Vice President Kamala Harris and with this has secured 54 electoral votes. In recent years, California has become a Democratic stronghold, with the state supporting Joe Biden in 2020 by a wide margin of 64 per cent to Trump’s 35 per cent. The last time a Republican presidential candidate won the state of California was in 1988 with the election of George HW Bush.
New York: Harris has won New York with more than 60 per cent vote share, reported news agency AP as the traditionally blue state delivered zero surprises in the US elections. The Empire State awards 28 electoral votes. The last time a Republican won New York was former President Reagan in 1984.
New York was previously home to former US President Trump, who was born in Queens. He was a long-time New York real estate tycoon before he relocated to Florida.

Washington: The Democrat nominee has secured 12 electoral votes with the win in Washington. This win continues a trend of the Evergreen State backing Democrats for president since 1988.
Massachusetts: Harris has secured a win in the state, securing its 11 Electoral College votes. Four years ago, President Biden defeated then-President Trump in Massachusetts. A Republican president hasn’t taken the state since Ronald Reagan won in 1984.
