From ghosts to architecture to stunning scenery, these are the top historic hotels in Phoenix, Scottsdale and across the Valley of the Sun.
Three metro Phoenix luxury resorts were recognized for having some of the nation’s most outstanding hotel amenities such as pools and spas.
USA TODAY 10Best released its lists of the nation’s best hotel amenities as part of its 2024 Readers’ Choice Awards. The honorees included Arizona Biltmore − which 10Best recently recognized as one of the best destination resorts − Hotel Valley Ho and Fairmont Scottsdale Princess.
10Best is described as “the go-to site for reader-voted and editor-recommended ideas” for Americans’ vacation planning. Its Readers’ Choice Awards recognize the best in hotels, airlines, destinations and dining. Nominees are selected by 10Best editors based on nominations from travel industry experts, and USA TODAY readers voted for their favorites based on the nominations.

Why Arizona Biltmore and Hotel Valley Ho’s pools are among the 10 best
Two Arizona hotels are on 10Best’s list of best hotel pools: Arizona Biltmore at No. 6 and Hotel Valley Ho at No. 10.
Arizona Biltmore, the historic resort distinguished by its Frank Lloyd Wright-style architecture, has seven pools. Readers liked the variety, ranging from adults-only relaxation spots like the Saguaro Pool to family-oriented playgrounds like the Paradise Pool, home to a triple waterslide called the Twist. The latter warranted the Biltmore’s inclusion in The Arizona Republic’s guide to family-friendly resorts in metro Phoenix.
At Hotel Valley Ho, the Scottsdale resort blending midcentury architecture with contemporary amenities, readers enjoyed both of the resort’s two pools. Its OHasis Pool, according to 10Best, “is geared towards leisurely laps and quiet moments to unwind,” and the party-centric OH Pool has a hot tub, poolside bar and restaurant.

Well & Being Spa, a previous honoree in 10Best’s resort spas rankings, ranked strongly for the “transformative experience” it offers guests. That includes desert-inspired spa treatments, a rooftop pool, an aromatherapy room, personalized nutrition services and aerial yoga.
