Arizona State football coach Kenny Dillingham talked all week about getting more running backs in the offense. It can’t just be Cam Skattebo.
While Raleek Brown saw his first real action and made a couple of plays, it was indeed Skattebo getting the yardage when the Sun Devils needed it most and propelling them to a 35-31 win over visiting Kansas in Big 12 play Saturday night in front of a sellout crowd of 54,639 at Mountain America Stadium.
Skattebo scored on a 1-yard run, taking a direct snap and going in for the touchdown that gave the Sun Devils a 21-17 lead in the opening seconds of the fourth quarter.

Skattebo entered the game with 30 more carries over the first four games than he did last year when he also shouldered the load.
He has been needed more this season because others were injured and not available, most notably explosive back Raleek Brown, who has been out since early in fall camp with a hamstring issue. Skattebo tallied 86 carries in the first four games, which led all FBS running backs.
On Saturday, Skattebo had 25 carries for 182 yards and a touchdown. Brown had seven carries for 40 yards.
