Well, we finally made it to Halloween and what would the day be like without something spooky? USA Today has released the 10 Best Reader’s Choice Best Haunted Hotels in America. Reader’s Choice fans voted on their favorites selected by a panel of experts and the Top 10 were revealed by voters in USA Today polls.

The 1886 Crescent Hotel and Spa in Eureka Springs was voted #1 as the Best Haunted Hotel in America. This has been one of the top haunted hotels to stay in for decades, several paranormal shows have spent the night in this beloved hotel in the Ozark Mountains has an eerie past. The 1886 Crescent Hotel was once a cancer facility for treating terminally ill patients but as time went on things became dark and sinister and patients were being conned out of millions of dollars.

The Crescent fell upon hard times and finally closed its doors in the 1930s but was brought back to life in the mid-1940s and turned into a hotel where it still stands today fully restored. However, the many people who died here under the doctor’s care are said to still haunt the hallways, rooms, and the hotel. Guests who have stayed here have reported hearing slamming doors in the middle of the night and seeing a ghostly apparition of a nurse pushing a gurney down the hallway. You may want to leave the lights on if you plan on spending the night at the 1886 Crescent Hotel and Spa in this Arkansas town.
