Arkansas basketball’s woes against the best teams in America continued Wednesday night against No. 1 Auburn.
The Razorbacks (15-11, 4-9 SEC) struggled shooting in a crushing 67-60 loss to the Tigers (24-2, 12-1). Arkansas went 3 for 19 from 3-point range and 7 for 14 at the free-throw line, moving to 0-4 against teams ranked inside the top-10 this season. Wednesday’s loss also drops the Hogs to 3-13 all-time against the No. 1 team in the country.
Arkansas matched Auburn punch-for-punch across the opening 10 minutes. The Hogs opened the game by hitting 10 of their first 19 shots and led 21-17 with 6:43 remaining in the first half.
But the Razorbacks’ offense dried up throughout the rest of the game. Arkansas missed seven of its next nine shots and Auburn capitalized, closing the half on a 16-6 run. The Tigers tightened up their pick-and-roll defense and took a six-point lead into the intermission.
There were moments throughout the second half where it looked like the Razorbacks might rally for a signature win. A 3-pointer from Karter Knox capped off an 8-0 run that tied the score at 37-37, and a layup from Johnell Davis gave the Razorbacks a 58-57 lead with 3:06 remaining.
From there, Auburn seized control. A layup from Chad Baker-Mazara gave the Tigers a lead they would not relinquish as they closed the night with a 9-1 run to stave off the Hogs’ upset bid.
Adou Thiero led the Razorbacks with 16 points, while Johnell Davis scored 14. Zvonimir Ivisic, who has turned his season around in recent weeks, went 0 for 9 on 3-pointers and was held scoreless.
Johni Broome led Auburn with 16 points and 13 rebounds. The Tigers went 13 for 17 from the free-throw line, and that was the difference.

Arkansas vs. Auburn prediction
This is a bad matchup for Arkansas. Auburn has physicality on defense and an offense that punishes opponents from 3-point range and inside the paint. The Razorbacks need their own 3-pointers to fall like they did against Kentucky, and that still might not be enough. Auburn 82, Arkansas 68.
