Paityn Noe’s All-America performance leads Arkansas

MADISON, Wisconsin – Producing a top 10 finish in the NCAA Championships earned Razorback sophomore Paityn Noe an All-America honor as she led Arkansas to 17th place in team scoring.

The Razorbacks entered the meet ranked No. 24 following a fourth place in the SEC Championships and claiming the NCAA South Central Region title.

In finishing 17th, with 431 points, Arkansas finished just four points behind No. 5 Notre Dame (427) and bettered higher ranked schools in No. 23 Minnesota (435) and No. 12 Utah (459), who finished 18th and 19th.

Noe covered the 6,000m course in 19:42.3 in placing seventh. A year ago, dealing with an injury, Noe placed 101st as a freshman. Noe was third at the 2k split (6:34.9), then dropped back to 11th at 3k (10:10.3). Over the next 2k she was in seventh (13:19.5 at 4k) and 10th at 5k (16:32.2). Noe closed with a 3:10.2 over the final 1k to move back into seventh place.

No. 1 BYU claimed the team title with 147 points over West Virginia (164), Providence (183), Northern Arizona (206), and Oregon (210).

Alabama’s Doris Lemogole won the individual title in 19:21.0 over New Mexico’s Pamela Kosgei (19:27.8) and Florida’s Hilda Olemonmoi (19:28.7).

Razorback Mia Cochran covered the course in 20:09 to place 41st overall and 32nd in adjusted scoring. She missed being among the top 40 individuals for All-America status by 0.3 of a second. Cochran moved from 58th to 46th to 41st over the last 3k.

Sydney Thorvaldson posted a time of 20:26.5 to place 78th overall while she was 58th in adjusted scoring.

Olivia Pielemeier finished fourth among the Razorbacks, covering the course in 20:57.2 to place 171st overall with an adjusted score of 135. Chaci Gonzales closed out Arkasas’ team score in placing 237th overall and 199 among adjusted score.

Also competing for the Razorbacks in the national championship meet were Tiana LoStracoo (245 | 207 adj. | 22:00.0) and Mackenzie Rogers (248 | 210 adj. | 22:05.8).
