ESPN’s Jay Bilas, Jay Williams discuss Auburn basketball and the SEC
ESPN “College GameDay” analysts Jay Bilas and Jay Williams discuss their latest trip to Neville Arena, Auburn basketball and the Tigers’ place in a stacked SEC.
Finally, Auburn basketball is getting a breather from its SEC schedule. After taking down then-No. 2 Alabama over the weekend, the Tigers are returning home for a three-game stretch against Arkansas, Georgia and No. 24 Ole Miss, starting against the Razorbacks on Wednesday. (8 p.m. CT, ESPN)
It’s Arkansas’ first season under illustrious former Kentucky coach John Calipari. All in all, the results have been underwhelming. The Razorbacks were 11-2 through nonconference play and dropped their first five SEC games.
Since then, Arkansas is 4-3 against the league, including a road win over Calipari’s former employer, then-No. 12 Kentucky.
As Auburn gets ready to welcome Arkansas, Calipari and a roster of Razorbacks that has underachieved but is laden with talent, here’s everything you need to know about the matchup.
Injury updates: Auburn basketball vs. Arkansas
The Razorbacks will be without former five-star and McDonald’s All-American Boogie Fland, who’s a little more than a month removed from a season-ending thumb injury. He remains Arkansas’ second-leading scorer.
It’s worth acknowledging that Chad Baker-Mazara’s status is somewhat likely to be in question. He played 24 minutes off the bench against Alabama after being listed as a game-time decision. And he’ll have three days between games to see the court against Arkansas.

No. 1 Auburn 92, Arkansas 82: Arkansas has turned the corner from its 0-5 SEC start. Its three losses since have come by an average of 5.0 points. Playing in Rupp Arena, Reed Arena and the Moody Center, the Razorbacks have pulled out convincing wins or put scares into top-25 foes.
That could be the case Wednesday evening, but it’s doubtful. Arkansas’ defense has proven vital, especially in the SEC. And when it can’t defend, it can’t win.
It has gone 2-6 against league opponents who have shot 40% or better from the field. In 25 games this season, Auburn has shot worse than 40% from the field just twice — and won both games.
