HOLLAND — Holland’s Eighth Street is among the most pristine in America.
That’s according to a survey from Waste Removal USA, which asked 3,000 travelers for their thoughts. Eighth Street was among two streets in Michigan listed in the top 100, ranking no. 12 in the country. S. Main St. in Frankenmuth ranked no. 58.
The top 10 streets were located in Georgia, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Utah, South Dakota, Maine and Arkansas. Georgia alone is home to three of the top 10.
“These locations not only offer visual appeal but also enhance the quality of life for residents and visitors alike,” a spokesperson for Waste Removal USA wrote in a release. “Clean streets play a significant role in creating welcoming and vibrant communities, and we hope this survey encourages more places to prioritize cleanliness and charm.”
Hundreds of spectators gather to watch the famous Dutch Dance on Tuesday, May 9, 2023, in downtown Holland.
Merriam-Webster defines pristine as “not spoiled, corrupted, or polluted (as by civilization)” or “fresh and clean, or as if new.”
“I’m thrilled to see Holland ranked 12 in the U.S. for having one of the most pristine streets, recognized by Waste Removal USA,” said Holland Area Visitors Bureau Director Linda Hart.
“We constantly receive comments from visitors praising how clean and beautiful our downtown and community are, and this ranking is a testament to the pride we all take in keeping our environment exceptional.”
