“And the song that I am singing is a prayer to non-believers. Come and stand beside us, we can find a better way.”
“Rhymes And Reasons” — John Denver
With this election, we can indeed find a better way. We can find a way of hope, a way of compassion, a way of concern for our fellow Americans. This is the way of Kamala Harris and Tim Walz. They will lead us out of this valley of despair to the mountain of hope. They will lead us out of this conflict-ridden darkness to liberty’s harmonious light.
Every election is said to be the most important; this one really is. If Donald Trump gets elected, there may not be an election in 2028. He said he wants to be a dictator on Day One. Maya Angelou, the famous author and poet, said “When someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time.” Trump has publicly said what he’ll do, believe him.

The question then becomes what kind of country do you want for your children and grandchildren? A country based on freedom and justice? Or a country based on tyranny and terror? Do you want everyone to decide how to run the country or will one man tell you what to do? Do you want to welcome the stranger or fear them?
E Pluribus Unum, out of many, one. It’s the motto of America. Out of many people, we have created one nation. The diversity of all these groups has made America a melting pot. The GOP despises this diversity. Fear your neighbors because they’re different from you. They have different beliefs, different customs and different religions. Republicans fail to realize this very difference, to coin a phrase, is what made America great.
Despite being attacked by Trump, some in these groups still support him.
That Trump despises Black people is old news. Yet, some Black men say they will vote for him. The Ku Klux Klan endorsed him in 2016. How can a Black person vote for Trump knowing the KKK supports him?
Hispanic support for Trump is equally puzzling. Trump kidnapped children from their parents and put them in cages. Hundreds of other parents never saw their kids again. He’s promised a massive deportation campaign involving millions of people. How can they support someone who may result in their removal or that of their loved ones?
Recently, some Muslims stated their support for Trump; even though he’ll institute another Muslim Ban. They conducted a bizarre Uncommitted Campaign, which would help Trump. This might be a first where a group of people vote for a candidate who publicly told them I’ll arrest and deport you if I get elected.
Some veterans support Trump even after he called them ‘suckers and losers’ and they died for nothing. To the military families, was your son or daughter a sucker or loser? Donald Trump thinks they are. Did your father or mother die in vain? Trump says they did.
If Trump mocks their sacrifice and your grief, why bother voting for him?
With four indictments and 34 convictions, Trump is a habitual offender. Yet police unions are endorsing him. Police officers have died because of him. With his Jan. 6th terrorist attack on the Capitol, five police officers died defending America against Trump’s tyranny. Had Jan, 6th not happened these officers would still be alive today.
The motto is “Back The Blue” not beat them black and blue. Over 140 police officers were beaten on Jan. 6. Trump caused this as well. Why would any officer vote for him?
By voting, you’re leaving your children a free country. To enjoy the same rights you had. Kamala Harris and Tim Walz will defend those rights.
Using a car analogy, to move the country forward, put it in ‘D.’ To go backwards, put it in ‘R.’
For the future of your children, for the future of America, drive to your polling place and vote.
