Logansport’s Bullshipper’s Café will soon be known to the world as it is to be featured on an episode of “America’s Best Restaurants” this month.
“America’s Best Restaurants” travels around the country to feature independently-owned restaurants and interview the owners of each restaurant they visit. Filming is to take place on Aug. 21, manager Dustin Olsen said.
The company sought Bullshipper’s out and had its eye on it for a few months, Olsen said. Owner Marsha Bullard, who has seen the show previously, said is usually does a few restaurants across the state when filming.
“… we’re just one of several in Indiana that they’re going to be filming this month,” Bullard said.
During the episode, the hosts of “America’s Best Restaurants” will chat with owners about the restaurant. From what she’s seen in other episodes, Bullard said they normally ask about some of their favorites or best sellers and also chat with the kitchen staff.
The episode will be posted on Bullshipper’s Facebook page and the “America’s Best Restaurants” social media accounts. Two lucky patrons can also win a $25 gift card to Bullshipper’s by commenting on their July 29 Facebook post before Aug. 21. One recipient will be randomly selected during the filming of the episode while the other will be announced on Facebook after the episode premieres, the post reads.
“That’s something that they took care of, we didn’t have anything to do with that on Facebook,” Olsen said. “They took care of that as far as to promote what’s happening for us, so it’s kind of part of the deal.”
Both Bullard and Olsen are excited about the opportunity, with Olsen saying the show is entertaining to watch and it will be interesting to see how it turns out. Bullard believes it will be good for the community and might bring in some new customers at least for a while after the episode releases.
“They’re going to tape while we’re open, so… it’ll be fun for the people to see and for us to see what they make of it,” Bullard said. “Bullshipper’s has been here a long time so it’s kind of a staple in the community and so it’ll be good for everybody to see that.”
Bullshipper’s Café is open from 5:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, 5:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Fridays and 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sundays. They are closed on Tuesdays.
