Comedian who appeared on ‘America’s Got Talent’ killed in hit-and-run in Los Angeles: Report

A well-known and seasoned comedian was killed in an alleged hit-and-run accident in California on Thursday, according to police.

Police say Perry Kurtz, 73, was struck by a Honda Civic around 11:20 p.m. as he was crossing an intersection in the Tarzana area of Los Angeles, USA Today is reporting.

The L.A. Country Medical Examiner’s Office noted the cause of death was deemed blunt force injuries, the report said.

Kurtz auditioned for “America’s Got Talent” during the show’s eighth season in 2006. He performed a rap about then-judges Howard Stern, Heidi Klum and Mel B. None voted for him, and he was eliminated in the same round, the report said.

Police arrested and charged 18-year-old Nathan Jaimes with a felony count of hit-and-run causing death in connection with incident, the report said.

Kurtz made several television appearances, including on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” and “The Late Late Show with James Corden,” as well as being a regular at comedy venues the Comedy Store and Hollywood Improv, the report said.
