Colorado’s Democrat governor reacted to a violent Venezuelan gang’s “takeover” of Denver-area apartment complexes by suggesting that a city council member is making it up, despite video of the foreign thugs in action.
Aurora City Council member Danielle Jurinsky said that she’s “disappointed” over a statement from Gov. Jared Polis’ office saying that the aggressive moves by the gang members suspected of belonging to the notorious Tren de Aragua are a figment of her “imagination” in a dismissive response to her criticism of his policies.
“The Governor has already let the Mayor know that the State is ready to support the local police department with assistance from state troopers and the Colorado Bureau of Investigation if needed,” the spox, Shelby Wieman, said in a statement to the New York Post. “But, according to police intelligence, this purported invasion is largely a feature of Danielle Jurinsky’s imagination.”
“I am so disappointed,” Jurinsky told Fox News Digital. “My question back to the governor is, is this also a figment of the Romeros’ imagination? And the other resident that I helped to get out of there, and the other residents that I am going to continue to get out of there?”
She was referring to Cindy and Edward Romero who were forced to move out of their apartment out of fear for their safety.

“It’s been a nightmare and I can’t wait to get out of here,” Cindy Romero told local Denver outlet KDVR. The couple was able to get out with the help of Jurinsky.
In a response to Fox News Digital, Wieman said that Polis “hopes that the city council members in charge stop trashing their own city when they are supposed to keep it safe.”
“We know violent crime in Aurora went down between 2022-2023, fully expect the data will show further declines for 2024, and the recent misinformation campaign threatens actual criminal investigations and could hurt the climate for small businesses in Aurora,” Wieman added, incredibly suggesting that Jurinsky’s sounding the alarm on the apartment takeover by illegal alien gangs would be detrimental for business owners.
“There are people behind this that are solely, playing politics,” Jurinsky said. “That is so sad to me because they’re real human beings, just like the Romeros suffering on the other side of those doors, living behind four deadbolt locks and a door brace and living in fear every day in these complexes.”
“It is very promising that across the board, people are really seeing what is happening,” she added. “Video footage is only undeniable for our governor in Colorado. Everybody else across the country is seeing this for themselves.”
“The city nonprofits have lined up to help the migrants that have come here but nobody is helping the Americans that are trapped in these apartment complexes,” Jurinsky told Fox 31 Denver. “This isn’t just Americans. Other Venezuelans are being extorted by this gang.”
Aurora Mayor Mike Coffman put the blame on the Biden-Harris administration for the policies that have allowed criminals to flood into America as part of the ongoing illegal alien invasion.

“So here’s the problem. I think we’re a victim of a failed policy at the southern border because, what you have, Venezuelan does not, according to my law enforcement, Venezuela does not cooperate with the United States in sharing criminal histories,” Coffman said during a Thursday Fox News appearance, adding, “You’ve had a third of the country leave. You’ve had these massive waves of migrants coming across the border that many of them crossed the border illegally, were arrested, asked for political asylum, were not adequately vetted, were released into the country.”
