(COLORADO SPRINGS) — National Wreaths Across America Day is happening on Saturday, Dec. 14, and several local ceremonies will be held in Colorado Springs to honor and remember our veterans.
Mindy King, Location Coordinator for Wreaths Across America – Evergreen Cemetery, appeared on Loving Living Local on Tuesday, Dec. 10 to speak about the local events and how the community can participate.
According to King, since 1992, Wreaths Across America has held annual events across the nation including at over 4,000 locations. “There is a total of five locations here in Colorado Springs that participate,” she said.
The following is a list of locations and times for ceremonies happening in Colorado Springs on Saturday:
Pikes Peak National Cemetery
Address: 10545 Drennan Road
4,600 veterans laid to rest
Evergreen Cemetery
Address: 1005 Hancock Expressway
4,000 veterans laid to rest
Memorial Gardens
Address: 3825 Airport Road
2,200 veterans laid to rest
Fairview Cemetery
Address: 1000 South 26th Street
544 veterans laid to rest
U.S. Air Force Academy (must have base access or get pass)
Address: Parade Loop, Air Force Academy, CO 80840
1,590 veterans laid to rest
