When restaurant owner Mahmoud Kassir originally came to America, he missed the food from his home in Syria. After his mother passed down her recipes to him, he opened Damascus to share the flavorful, spice-filled dishes with everyone. The hummus is flawlessly smooth and tasty, and pairs perfectly with freshly baked pita. Try the popular lamb chop dish or the savory Syrian sausage, both served with saffron rice and vegetables.

The food, made from locally sourced and organic ingredients whenever possible, suits breakfast or lunch. Try the Hatch Valley breakfast plate, which consists of grilled Texas toast topped with pepper jack cheese, sausage, bacon, and an egg smothered in homemade green chili sauce and served with country potatoes. The fair-trade coffee is roasted two times every week. The spicy-sweet coffee drink called the Mayan mocha is made with cinnamon, cayenne, and dark chocolate.
