Television coverage of the USMNT’s do-or-die Copa America game against Uruguay was slammed by fans, who claimed the bizarre camera angle made the game ‘borderline unwatchable’.
Christian Pulisic and his USA teammates played at the Kansas City Chiefs’ Arrowhead Stadium on Monday night, and the height of the stadium meant the camera angle for FOX Sports’ coverage was unusually high for a soccer audience.
When the game began, fans immediately took to social media – and some even claimed that the ‘bulls***’ angle was ‘making their heads hurt.’
ESPN soccer reporter Herculez Gomez was among the critics of the high angle, telling his 268,000 followers: ‘This camera angle is going to make me throw up. Wowzers!’
Another added: ‘This better not be the camera angle the whole time,’ while one USA fan wrote: ‘FOX continue to find new ways to disappoint.’

Barstool Sports podcaster Francesca Mariano wrote to her 200,000 followers: ‘I can’t believe how bad this camera angle is. Borderline unwatchable. Ants running around!’
Fox Sports are not responsible for the angle of the cameras, and the blame instead laid with Copa America organizers.
In fact, even the commentators were quick to comment on how high they were in the stadium, and how difficult it was to follow the game on the TV coverage.
After 38 minutes – and seemingly some quick changes from the production team – a new angle was used for the TV coverage, and it was so low that the first few rows of fans inside the stadium were visible.
One fan joked it was as though TV viewers were watching from a helicopter above the stadium Shortly before halftime, some quick-thinking producers managed to find a new angle for fans Social media gave a shoutout to Fox Sports for listening to the criticism of the camera angle
While the high angle was being shown, even FOX Sports’ main presenter of the analysis – Rob Stone – wrote on Twitter: ‘Umm that camera angle is something. #USMNT #steep’
At halftime, he then joked: ‘How’s everybody’s vertigo?’, and the reaction during the second half to the new angle was much more receptive.
Analyst Carli Lloyd was also quick to jump in with her opinion, taking a different route by noting: ‘The ref is way worse than the camera angle!’
