The Pakistan cricket team is playing their first match in the 2024 T20 World Cup against co-hosts the United States of America (USA) in Dallas. Two players that are part of the USA’s squad in the mega event were born in Pakistan. The USA team also has four players who were born in India.

Pakistan will open their campaign in the 2024 T20 World Cup on Thursday (June 6) with a clash against co-hosts the United States of America (USA) at the Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas in a group A match with the Babar Azam-led team hoping for a winning start.
This is not just the first major international tournament being hosted by the USA, but also the first time they are participating in the T20 World Cup. The American side started their campaign in grand style by defeating neighboring Canada in the tournament opener in Dallas on June 1.
The USA team is already making a big mark on international cricket, as their win over Canada was a big statement of intent. Last month, the Monak Patel-led outfit stunned the cricketing world by winning a three-match T20I series against Bangladesh.

Meet the Pakistan Born Players In The USA Team
The USA team is a mixture of players from different ethnicities that have been formed by individuals who have migrated from their own country to settle in America. There are as many as four Indian-born players that are part of the squad and will face India on June 12 in New York.
Moreover, the USA’s clash against Pakistan will see two Pakistan-born players go head-to-head against the Men in Green. Here is a look at the two players born in Pakistan but playing for the USA:
Ali Khan – Right-arm pacer Ali Khan, aged 33, was born in the city of Attock in Pakistan, based in the state of Punjab. Ali was raised in the same region but moved to the USA with his family in 2010 at the age of 19. Ali’s family settled in Ohio.
Ali made his debut for the USA in an ODI game in 2019, while making his T20I debut in 2021. He has taken 33 wickets in 15 ODIs while also having 10 scalps in nine T20Is to his name.
Ali burst into the limelight by dismissing Kumar Sangakkara on his debut in the Caribbean Premier League. In 2020, he played for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and became the first American to be part of the IPL. However, he did not play a single game.
Shayan Jahangir -Shayan Jahangir is part of the USA’s team for the clash against Pakistan and was born in Karachi, Pakistan. His cricketing journey was stated in Pakistan, as he played domestic cricket in his native country. Jahangir played both first-class and List A cricket in Pakistan for the Pakistan International Cricket Team. He also played seven youth ODIs for the Pakistan U-19 cricket team in 2023.
Jehangir made his debut for the USA in 2022 in an ODI game, and he has so far played 12 ODIs and 1 T20I for the American team.
Yasir Mohammad is part of the three reserves for the USA and is of Pakistani origin. Although, he was born in New Jersey to a Pakistani immigrant family.
