“Headquartered in North Carolina with over 70 locations throughout North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia, Biscuitville is a family-owned chain of restaurants specializing in Southern food,” the report says. “Biscuits are baked fresh every 15 minutes for their menu of breakfast sandwiches and platters.”
The North Carolina-based fast food joint, known for its scratch-made biscuits, has a history dating back to the 1960s. Though the first official location opened in Virginia, founder Maurice Jennings began making the famous Biscuitville recipes in the Tar Heel state.
“Given the choice of the family farm or the family biscuit recipe, Maurice Jennings literally ‘bets the farm on the biscuit.’ A former flour broker, he opens two Mountainbrook Fresh Bread & Milk stores in Burlington, NC [in 1966,]” the chain’s website says.
Now there are over 80 locations in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia.
Along with being voted one of the best regional fast food chains, Biscuitville was also named the No. 1 best fast food breakfast spot in the country by USA Today readers.
