Los Angeles: Global pop star Shakira is set to perform at the Copa America final on Sunday. According to Billboard, this will mark the Colombian hitmaker’s debut at the oldest national soccer tournament. Known for hits like “Hips Don’t Lie,” Shakira will take the stage during halftime of the match, scheduled for 8 p.m. ET at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, where an audience of approximately 54,000 is expected.
Alejandro Dominguez, president of CONMEBOL, expressed, “Shakira is an extraordinary South American star who has captivated the entire world. Her music is embraced and celebrated globally, making her an iconic figure transcending borders and delighting millions of fans. We believe her performance at Copa America USA 2024 will amplify the spirit of healthy passion and unity through sports.”
Shakira has graced numerous global events with her performances and is particularly renowned for her association with football, having famously provided the official theme song “Waka Waka” for the 2010 World Cup.
