‘The United States of America’ will cease to exist in 2031? Alexa makes ‘alarming’ prediction!

Amazon Alexa has a grim update about the United States of America and it’s quite an ‘alarming’ one. The AI-powered virtual assistant device recently made a disturbing forecast about the future of the United States of America that was captured and shared via TikTok. The video now has gone viral on several social media platforms.

The ‘prophecy’:

Content creator Lucy Blake recently shared a video on TikTok, the video sharing social media platform, where the virtual assistant was heard making an unsettling prediction about the US. In the viral video on TikTok, Lucy Blake’s sister casually asked Alexa what would happen to the United States on February 20, 2031. Replying to that, Alexa answered, “On February 20, 2031, the United States of America ceases to exist. This date marks the culmination of a process of unification between various governments that was not approved by most people.”
Alexa’s prediction of the US ‘ceasing to exist’ in less than a decade has sparked alarm all over social media. Content creator Lucy Blake first posted the video on TikTok, and it soon became popular on other social media platforms. The clipping has so far garnered over two million views since it was posted earlier this month.

The reactions:

After the video went viral, netizens are now busy discussing its implications and authenticity. While several social media users dismissed the prediction as a hoax or a glitch in the virtual assistant, others expressed concern about its eerie specificity.
One X user wrote, “Alexa regurgitates data that Amazon scrapes from the Internet, many of which are baseless websites.” Another wrote, “These things are always to be taken with a grain of salt. You can program them in the backend to say anything you want. Then, when the key phrase is said, it will repeat it as if it’s truth.” Another user commented, “Anyone can make up a question to submit to Alexa and add a user-provided answer. People do that to make videos like this to get attention.”
However, the content creator Lucy Blake claimed that the ‘spooky’ answer only occurred on one occasion and that her home device no longer gives the same answer when prompted. Instead, her “brand new Alexa” only responds with, “I don’t know.”
Some other netizens didn’t shy away from expressing their humorous responses to the ‘prediction’. One quipped, “That settles it! I ain’t paying my student loans anymore.” Another said, “That sounds like a future me celebration.” Another one commented, “OK, but like why do we have to wait so long? Can we speed up the process?”
