Elon Musk and President Trump interview together on Fox News
Elon Musk described the federal workforce as an “unelected bureaucracy” during the interview on Fox News Channel.
Just a week after unveiling the blueprint of his federal budget, U.S. Rep. Jodey Arrington, R-Lubbock, has gained the backing of the president and key House GOP leadership.
In a release on Wednesday, President Donald J. Trump praised Arrington’s House federal budget blueprint and backed it over the Senate version spearheaded by U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-South Carolina.
“The House and Senate are doing a SPECTACULAR job of working together as one unified, and unbeatable, TEAM, however, unlike the Lindsey Graham version of the very important Legislation currently being discussed, the House Resolution implements my FULL America First Agenda, EVERYTHING, not just parts of it,” reads Trump’s statement.
The president urged both chambers of Congress to pass the House budget resolution to “‘kickstart’ the Reconciliation process.”
In response to Trump’s support, Arrington, who is chairman of the House budget committee, stated that he is delivering on exactly what the president asked for, including $4 trillion in federal spending cuts and tax cuts.
“It’s pro-growth, pro-energy, and pro-working family! It cuts taxes, cuts regulations, and cuts waste. It gives our heroic border patrol agents and troops the tools they need to keep us safe,” Arrington said. “Republicans in both chambers should follow Trump’s lead – endorse it, unlock the most consequential legislation in modern history, and Make America Great Again!”
Trump wasn’t the only one who backed Arrington. Others include Speaker of the House Mike Johnson, House Majority Leader Steve Scalise and House Republican Conference Chairwoman Lisa McClain.
Last week, Arrington, oversaw the passing of the FY2025 budget concurrent resolution — or the framework and guidelines of the upcoming budget.
He said the resolution’s passage would restore the United States’ fiscal health by curtailing “reckless spending and reigniting growth.”
“The era of wasteful, woke, and weaponized government is over,” Arrington said.
The budget aims to give President Trump key resources to help secure America’s borders, strengthen the military, and provide for common defense, by:
Reduce federal spending.Expand U.S. energy production.Lower taxes.Deregulate the economy and diminish bureaucratic red tape.Eliminate barriers for Americans to enter or reenter the job market.
“The resolution passed out of Committee today is a blueprint to right-size the bloated federal bureaucracy, rein-in the reckless spending that spurred record inflation, and roll back the barrage of burdensome regulations that are crushing our small businesses,” Arrington said.
The resolution passed in committee along party lines, 21-16.
What does the House 2025 budget concurrent resolution say?
The resolution aims to fund the government for FY 2025 but also tasks each House Committee with finding ways to reduce spending.
As the bill states, “the national debt currently exceeding $36 trillion, or 123 percent of GDP,” causing lawmakers to “set the goal of this concurrent resolution to reduce mandatory spending by $2 trillion over the budget window.”
Here is the breakdown of asks by each committee:
Agriculture — reduce the deficit by $230 billion through 2034.Armed Services — reduce the deficit by $100 billion through 2034.Education and Work Force — reduce the deficit by $330 billion through 2034.Energy and Commerce — reduce the deficit by $880 billion through 2034.Financial Services — reduce the deficit by $1 billion through 2034.Homeland Security — reduce the deficit by $90 billion through 2034.Judiciary — reduce the deficit by $110 billion through 2034.Natural Resources — reduce the deficit by $50 billion through 2034.Transportation and Infrastructure — reduce the deficit by $10 billion through 2034.Ways and Means — find ways to not increase the deficit by more than $4.5 trillion through 2034.
The resolution also asks the House Committee on Ways and Means to increase the statutory debt limit — also known as the debt ceiling — by $4 trillion.
Each committee will have until March 27 to submit their recommendation.
