US Army releases ‘America’s Army: 2024 Year in Review’ | Article

WASHINGTON — The U.S. Army has released "America’s Army: 2024 Year in Review," which features major newsmakers from the year and the top 100 photos captured by Army photographers in our Year in Photos gallery.

From the 80th Anniversary of D-Day to responses to natural disasters and tragedies like the collapse of the Key Bridge and hurricanes Milton and Helene, it has been a significant year for the Army. Soldiers made noteworthy achievements on the world stage at the Olympics and Paralympics, a Soldier was crowned Miss USA, and two astronauts made history by earning the Army Astronaut Device, one of the most rarely earned qualifications in the service.

Soldiers built relationships and improved readiness by participating in multinational exercises like Salaknib, Super Garuda Shield, and African Lion. In addition, the Army and our nation provided long overdue honors to heroes by awarding the Medal of Honor to Civil War Soldiers, presenting the Congressional Gold Medal to the WWII Ghost Army Soldiers, and by naming the newest integrated air defense system after Sgt. Mitchell W. Stout, the only Air Defense Artillery Soldier to receive the Medal of Honor.
