USA Today’s 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards has announced the winners of America’s best hotel amenities. Categories encompass spas, eco-friendliness, bars, swimming pools — and ta-da! — on-property restaurants.
While several prestigious hotel restaurants (think Inn at Little Washington and Blackberry Farm) might be considered the destination augmented with adjacent rooms, neither made USA Today’s list in 2024 revealed on Aug. 21.
And when considering how many high-end hotels dot our nation’s landscape, calling this category ultra-competitive is an understatement.
Consider this an opportunity to live like you’re on vacation minus the overnight stay when visiting Florida’s sole best hotel restaurant winner.
Assorted sharable plates from Sofra at The Ritz-Carlton, Naples, which earned a coveted spot on USA Today’s 10Best hotel restaurant list.

An authentic experience
Sofra at The Ritz-Carlton, Naples pours a proprietary olive oil exclusive to the restaurant.
Sofra’s chef, Ertugrul “Ertu” Filiz, grew up in Turkey, where he graduated from culinary school. His resume is peppered with positions at the ultra-exclusive Mandarin Oriental hotel group, starting in his home country and followed by stops in Qatar, Hong Kong and Dubai.
Returning to Turkey, he moved to Marriott Luxury Brands’ properties to work at the Bodrum EDITION, whose Kitchen Bodrum restaurant boasts a Michelin star.
Filiz’s next stop: The Ritz-Carlton, Naples, in 2022 to conceptualize and launch Sofra.
Why locals love it
The resort’s better-known Grill Room, Dusk and Gumbo Limbo get tremendous year-round love from locals. Still, in July, when The Ritz-Carlton’s two Naples resorts launched their “dining passport” dinner specials that included dinner at Sofra, this reporter heard from readers (many residing near the hotel) who visited for the first time.
Their feedback? Beyond complimentary.
A word of advice: Before picking up your phone or hitting OpenTable to book a reservation in the next few weeks — you’ll likely need one — note that Sofra is only offering its lunch menu, with dinner service resuming in October.
