Copa America 2024 is already well underway on US soil. The hosts open their account on Sunday against Bolivia, and Gregg Berhalter will be hoping his side can make a strong opening statement.
Facing a Bolivia team who coming into the tournament are in a poor rut of form, the US side need to avoid complacency having had some poor results of their own in recent days, and nobody’s position in the team is 100% guaranteed.
Wingers Timothy Weah and captain Christian Pulisic both scored goals in the Stars and Stripes’ two pre-tournament friendlies, and although Pulisic’s was the equaliser in a spirited 1-1 draw with Brazil, Weah’s was a mere consolation in a 5-1 hammering by Colombia in Maryland.
There are plenty of questions for Berhalter and his side to answer coming into this opening match, and we’ve given our best shot at what the starting lineup will look like come Sunday evening at the AT&T Stadium in Texas.

USA vs. Bolivia lineups, starting 11, team news
Gregg Berhalter has run out a starting lineup very similar to the one that played against Brazil in the final Copa America tune-up friendly.
There were questions coming into the summer about how the U.S. would replace injured right-back Sergino Dest, but Joe Scally won the job with a pair of brilliant performances in the warm-up matches vs. Colombia and Brazil. Folarin Balogun starts up front despite his slow start to his U.S. international career.
Josh Sargent missed both pre-tournament friendlies with a foot injury, but has recovered in time to make the bench at the Copa America opener. Tyler Adams was only rated for a substitute role against Brazil but surprisingly starts over Yunus Musah in midfield.
