The United States Men’s National Team suffered a shocking defeat on Thursday putting their Copa America hopes in serious jeopardy and we may as well get the expected lows out of the way right away. Tim Weah’s shocking decision to cuff someone (shocking particularly in the age of VAR) resulted in him deservedly receiving the lowest score of the match at just 1.27. The score was closely followed by match official Ivan Barton (2.26) who failed to control the match, and manager Gregg Berhalter (2.63) who’s job could be on the line Monday night if an underdog USMNT are unable to defeat the better Uruguayan team and make it out of the group stage.
There was at least one performance though that stood out and it was not lost on the SSFC voters who named goal scorer Folarin Balogun the SSFC Man of the Match. Balogun’s goal, was a loan bright spot for the fans and he is a deserving winner. Christian Pulisic and Antonee Robinson were the only other players to score above a six while the majority of the players, including all the substitutes, registered below a five.
