The final score was less shocking given the level of the competition but the result was arguably worse as a United States Men’s National Team that knew they likely needed a win on Monday night failed to score a goal and were officially sent home, failing to make it out of the group stage at the Copa America. Overall, the scores were on the low end of middling with the exceptions being Coach Gregg Berhalter who came in with a lower score than following the Panama game, at 2.55, and seems as though he may have coached his last game with the team. The only participant to score lower was match official Kevin Ortega. While Ortega can’t be blamed for the USMNT failing to advance he objectively had a howler of a night and looked well out of his depth. On the player side, all of the subs scored below a five as did four fifths of the spine of the defense, with midfielders Weston McKennie and Yunus Musah joining Christ Richards and Matt Turner as the starters to score under five.
The rest of the team scored in the 5.5-6 range, including Folarin Balogun who was forced off just before the half due to injury. There were two players to eek past the six points mark and ultimately it was Antonee Robinson who just edged out Christian Pulisic as the SSFC Man of the Match.
