USA wins thriller over Mexico to reach quarterfinals to reach U-20 Women’s World Cup quarterfinals

A 3-2 round-of-16 overtime win over Mexico in Bogotá, Colombia, puts the USA one victory away from its best run at the U-20 Women’s World Cup since its fourth-place finish in 2016.

Princeton striker Pietra Tordin’s fourth goal of the tournament gave the USA a 10th-minute lead, which Californian Val Vargas, a UCLA sophomore, equalized 12 minutes later.
