American cricketer Aaron Jones scored a match-winning 94 off 40 deliveries with the help of four fours and 10 sixes to produce a cracking start to the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024. The United States of America (USA) secured a seven-wicket victory against Canada in the opening clash of the main stages of the competition. Coming in to bat at 42-2 in a chase of 195, Jones tore apart the Canadian bowling unit, capping off the game with strike rate of 235.

Jones rose the ranks through the West Indian domestic circuit. He has played for a variety of teams, i.e. Combined Campuses, Barbados, Rangpur Riders, and Seattle Orcas. Since October 2018, he has been the pillar behind the progress that America has made in the global cricketing space. Whilst that was the T20 format, Jones debuted in One Day Internationals (ODIs) in April 2019.

In 27 T20Is, Jones has aggregated 478 runs at an average and strike rate of 28.11 and 116.87, with the help of a couple of half-centuries. He has struck 27 fours and 23 sixes, remaining not out on eight occasions in his career in the shortest international format so far.

Aaron Jones ODI record 

Jones has represented the USA in 43 matches, totalling 1454 runs with an average of 36.35 and striking at 70.78, bringing about 10 half-centuries and a solitary ton, thanks to 95 fours and 28 maximums. However, he successfully breached his overall career strike rate in his whirlwind knock against Canada.
