Babar Azam’s bizarre reply went viral Pakistan lost to USA in a Super OverPakistan will face India on Sunday

Pakistan were victims of arguably the greatest upset in cricket history as they lost to the United States of America (USA) in a group A clash of the 2024 T20 World Cup on Thursday (June 6) at the Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas. The Babar Azam-led outfit suffered a super over defeat in their opening game of the mega event, putting themselves at risk of facing the humiliation of a first-round defeat.

After the game, Babar had to face the media in a post-match press conference and was naturally asked some hard questions over the team’s dismal start to their campaign. One reporter questioned the Pakistan captain about whether the result was an ‘upset’ or USA played extraordinary cricket.

However, it looked like the Pakistan captain misheard the question and instead answered by mentioning his own mood and revealed he was ‘upset’ with the result. Social media users were quick to take notice of the interaction as the clip went viral all over the internet.

“Yes we are. I am upset. We are not playing good in all three departments. We are better than that. In the bowling, we are not taking taking wickets in the first six overs. In the middle overs, if your spinner is not taking wickets, its puts pressure on us. After 10 overs, we made a comeback but I think the way they finished the game in the super over, credit to US,” Babar replied in the post-match press conference.

Pakisatan will now face arch-rivals India in their second game of the tournament in what now is a must-win clash for them. The Asian giants will face each other on Sunday (June 9) at the Nassau County Interntational Cricket Stadium in New York in a blockbuster clash with a defeat likely to put the Men in Green on the verge of an exit from the tournament.
