Venezuela will look to continue their unbeaten run at Copa America 2024 against Canada in the quarter-finals at AT&T Stadium.
Much to the surprise of most fans, Venezuela finished atop Group B after they collected all nine possible points from their opening three fixtures. Fernando Batista’s squad has scored six goals at Copa America 2024 so far, and conceded just one. For their strong group stage efforts, La Vinotinto get to face the second-place finishers of Group A, Canada.
It is no secret that Canada has struggled under new manager, Jesse Marsch. Ever since the American was hired back in May, Canada have scored just one goal in their last five matches and only managed one victory. The Reds did enough, though, to advance to the knockout stage after Chile and Peru failed to win a single match.
Here’s 90min’s guide to Venezuela vs Canada on July 5.

Venezuela’s Darwin Machis will have to sit out of his team’s first knockout match at the tournament. The winger received a yellow card against Ecuador and then another against Jamaica, earning him a one game suspension for yellow card accumulation. Should La Vinotinto make it to the semifinals, Machis will once again be available to Batista.
Venezuela will rely on Rondon to find the breakthrough against Marsch’s disciplined backline. The striker already has two goals and one assist at Copa America 2024.
Venezuela predicted lineup vs Canada (4-2-3-1): Romo; Aramburu, Ferraresi, Osorio, Navarro; Martinez, Herrera; Bello, Savarino, Soteldo; Rondon

Heading into the quarter-finals at Copa America 2024, Canada will be without Tajon Buchanan. The winger broke his tibia in training and will miss the rest of the tournament (and the next four to six months) as he recovers from the devastating injury.
Marsch has selected a different starting XI each group stage fixture, but one thing is for certain—the manager needs his team to start burying their chances on the counter attack if they want to make the semifinals in their first ever Copa America appearance.
Canada predicted lineup vs Venezuela (4-4-2): Crepeau; Johnston, Bombito, Cornelius, Davies; Laryea, Eustaquio, Kone, Millar; David, Larin
Canada will suffer against a compact Venezuelan defense; after all, they have only scored one goal in the last month, and it came against a Peru side with ten men. Ultimately, Canada’s lack of finishing will be their downfall against Venezuela, who seem destined to continue their storybook tournament.
Prediction: Venezuela 1-0 Canada
