Aruba Airport Experiences Impressive Growth in the First Half of 2024 | Aruba Airport Authority N.V.

Aruba Airport continues to see record-breaking growth, handling over 1 million passengers in the first half of 2024, representing a 23.3% increase compared to the same period in 2023. This surge in passenger traffic highlights the airport’s expanding role as a key hub in the Caribbean region.

Revenue-generating passenger numbers have shown significant growth, increasing by 19% compared to the same period in 2023. The Latin American market has been a major driver of this growth, recording an impressive 45.2% increase. The US market also contributed significantly, with an 18.4% rise in revenue-generating passengers.

Capacity to the island has seen equally impressive growth, with seat capacity numbers increasing by 23.3% in the first half of 2024. The Latin American market led this growth with a 46% increase, while the US market followed closely with a 25.8% increase.

Among the airlines, JetBlue emerged as the dominant player at Aruba Airport, securing the largest market share in terms of revenue-generating passengers at 22%. American Airlines followed with a 19% market share, and Delta Air Lines secured 13%.

Analyzing the primary gateway cities, New York stood out as the largest contributor to seat capacity. The three major airports in New York – JFK, EWR, and LGA – collectively accounted for a substantial 22% of seat capacity, followed by Boston (BOS) with 10%, and Miami with 8%.

Looking Ahead

This upward trajectory is expected to continue, with the North American region forecasted to reach 1.3 million seats by the end of 2024, exhibiting a strong year-over-year growth of 18%. The Latin American region is also forecasted to see impressive growth, with a year-over-year increase of 43% by the end of 2024, reaching over 309,000 seats. Further enhancing connectivity, GOL Airlines will launch direct flights to Aruba from São Paulo, Brazil (GRU) in December 2024.
