Yacimientos Petrolíferos Fiscales Bolivianos has planned an investment of USD 63.35 million for this year in the construction of 60,400 domestic gas connections in the nine departments of Bolivia, announced Armin Dorgathen Tapia, president of YPFB.
“This year we will continue to encourage the growth of domestic gas consumption. We will bring natural gas directly to the kitchens of the country, to prevent our mothers and grandmothers from having to continue going to get a gas cylinder to cook with. We maintain a firm commitment to increase the gas networks, so that it reaches all Bolivians,” said Dorgathen Tapia.
Within the framework of the Natural Gas Distribution System, the state oil company planned the construction of 20,000 internal installations in the department of La Paz, 13,980 in Santa Cruz, 11,400 in Cochabamba, 4,020 in Chuquisaca, 4,000 in Potosí, 4,000 in Oruro, 2,000 in Tarija, 740 in Beni and 260 internal connections that will be built in the department of Pando.
Of the total number of facilities to be built in the domestic category nationwide, around 57,224 connections will be built using the conventional system and 3,176 will be installed through the Virtual Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Transportation System.
In order to increase the use and consumption of natural gas nationwide, the state-owned oil company will install and start up 10 District Regulation Stations (EDR), build 57,450 meters of primary network, 761,383 meters of secondary network, 60,400 internal installations, 80,859 connections and implement 3 City Gates. The activities to be carried out will allow the creation of direct and indirect jobs.
“We are working hard to provide home gas distribution services for the benefit of the Bolivian population in order to meet the demand of users of this service that contributes to improving their quality of life,” said Alejandra Pérez Cabrera, manager of Gas Networks and Pipelines at YPFB.
The installation of gas networks in the homes of Bolivian families is the most important social project of the National Government and its strategic company YPFB. The use of this energy allows savings in the homes of the beneficiaries, who consume on average two cylinders of Liquefied Petroleum Gas per month.
