PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) – Florida State University’s InSPIRE project aims to build an aeronautical aviation center of excellence.
The FSU InSPIRE project, better known as the institute for strategic partnerships, innovation, research, and education, is joining with industry leaders to bring advanced manufacturing and aerospace capabilities to the region.
“The inspire project is going to be really essential for economic development for Northwest Florida,” said Jason Gorey, Executive director of ASTRO America.
The Executive Director of ASTRO America, Jason Gorey, highlighted the project’s importance in attracting major defense and aerospace companies to the area and developing a local talent pipeline.
“The capabilities around advanced manufacturing and the wind tunnel testing capability are going to be essential for drawing in major defense, aerospace corporations and their supply chains to the Northwest Florida area,” said Gorey.
The project is expected to create dozens of jobs and educational opportunities in engineering and advanced manufacturing, preparing students to support these high-tech industries.
“It’s a game-changing initiative that’s happening right here in Bay County,” said Becca Hardin, President of the Bay Economic Alliance. “They’re going to build 100,000 square foot facility located at our airport.
