Sometimes the hottest ticket in town is too hot.
That was the case Tuesday when Canada and Peru met for a Copa America match at Children’s Mercy Park in Kansas City, Kansas.
The game kicked off at 5 p.m. when the heat index hovered around 100 degrees. Fans normally pack the Cauldron section of the stadium but the area was nearly abandon as the crowd moved to shaded stands to avoid the blazing sun.

The heat was so intense that assistant referee Humberto Panjoj collapsed during the match. Canada goalkeeper Maxime Crepeau ran to help Panjoj and could be seen cradling the referees head on the field.
While the temperatures soared, the match score stayed low. Canada came away with the 1-0 victory with a goal late in the first half.
