Highlights

• The first Health Sector Coordination Meeting was convened by PAHO on 5 July 2024, with participation from UN agencies, regional partners and donors.

• Preliminary assessment is available for 49 health facilities in St Vincent and the Grenadines, of which 38 (78%) is operational, however most of them suffer some form of damage such as: roof damage, roof leak, no power, issues with water and electricity, damage to doors and windows.

• Of the 41 health centers with preliminary assessment in Grenada, 37 (90.2%) are operational, however some suffers damage and, in some cases, operating without electricity. Water is trucked to the facilities that are without running water.

• Rapid assessment of WASH in Health Sector by the PAHO expert deployed as part of the Rapid Needs Assessment Team (RNAT) is scheduled to be completed this weekend for St Vincent and the Grenadines.

• The Samaritan Purse has established and EMT Type 1 field hospital in Carriacou and has commenced seeing patients. EMT Type 1 for Union Island, is being established.

• Vaccine cold chain compromised in the Grenadines, concern about interruption in vaccine services for all ages according to the vaccination schedule. Urgent needs for COVID-19 vaccines and COVID-19 rapid test kits.

• Essential health emergency supplies procured by PAHO for the Ministry of Health, St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Supplies for Grenada prepared to be dispatched this weekend via WFP.

• PAHO logistics expert arrived in Barbados and other deployment team members position to be deployed on the weekend to St Vincent and the Grenadines.
