The St. Louise de Marillac chapel is under construction at the St. Vincent de Paul campus on Florida Boulevard.
The nearly 3,000-square-foot building will be a place where guests and volunteers at the St. Vincent de Paul shelters can pray, meditate and seek solace, said Michael J. Acaldo, president and CEO.
The charitable organization had sought to build a chapel for over a decade. The chapel, which is named after the patron saint of social workers, should be open by the end of the year. It will cost about $1.8 million to build the property at 1628 Florida Blvd. Deumite Construction is the general contractor.
