PRINCETON, Ind. (WFIE) – Just days after winning Season 19 of America’s Got Talent, Richard Goodall returned back home to the Hoosier State.

Goodall, who was once a middle school janitor, is now $1 million richer after winning the big competition.

“It really has not hit me yet,” said Goodall. “The whole experience has been so surreal.”

Goodall performed at the Gibson County Fairgrounds on Friday night, with other acts including Jason Michael Carroll, Rodney Watts and Family and Comedian Andy Imlay.

This is the first time Goodall has performed since winning America’s Got Talent.

Goodall may not have been announced as the winner for very long, but fans are already giving him the celebrity treatment.

“I went out to thank some lady for giving me a card, and I was bombarded. It is very surreal,” said Goodall.

His performance on Friday night was originally scheduled for September 7. Much to the chagrin of the event’s organizers, Goodall kept on moving closer to winning the competition.

“It has been super exciting for us for the last few weeks watching him do his journey, live out his dream and see him win. Also, seeing the increase in interest in this concert and the boost in ticket sales has been a really good thing,” said Jason Cullum, Co-Founder of Cops Connecting with Kids.

Cops Connecting With Kids is a non-profit organization that helps build trust and understanding between law enforcement and youth here in the Tri-State.

“What we saw him do on TV in front of millions of people was live out his dream,” said Cullum.

“The goal of Cops Connecting With kids is to teach these kids to chase their dreams, to work hard in the classroom and to be a positive person in the school and in the community.”

Goodall said that while he has won the competition, he still feels the need to pinch himself every once in a while.

“I am just a regular guy who had a dream,” said Goodall. “All of a sudden, I am on the biggest stage in the world, and I won.”
