LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Arkansas is receiving more than $32 million in federal funding to make improvements to roadways across the state.
Officials with the United States Department of Transportation announced Thursday that Arkansas will receive $32,375,304 in grant money as part of the $1 billion that was part of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law passed by the Biden administration.

The Safe Streets and Roads for All program provides grant money for communities to plan and implement projects for combating road fatalities.
“Today’s roadway safety grants will deliver funding directly to 354 communities and continue the important work we’re doing to reduce traffic fatalities to the only number that’s acceptable: zero,” U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg said.
Two Arkansas highways among most-hated in America
The city of Little Rock was awarded $25 million for the Little Rock Safe Streets for All project to make improvements to roadways. The project will look to implement safety measures, including bicycle lanes, roundabouts and lighting enhancements, USDOT officials said.
The city of Springdale was awarded more than $5 million for the Dean’s Trail Phase IIIB project to complete the Dean’s Trail, which officials said would separate pedestrians and cyclists from traffic.
Arkansas gets $2M from US DOT for local safe road projects
USDOT officials said that more than $2 million will be granted for seven other safety planning and demonstration projects around Arkansas.
